Join Santa Barbara County Water Agency and the Network of Santa Barbara County Water Providers (RWEP) in Santa Barbara South County on Saturday June 4th and Saturday June 11th at the Westside Community Center in Santa Barbara, CA for a two-part Water Wise Landscaping Series.
Learn how to replace your lawn with a climate appropriate garden and create your own landscape design using the watershed approach to landscaping.
June 4th – Water Wise Landscape Basics Class 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
This three-hour class will go outside (weather permitting) and show you ways to garden with your climate – including:
- Evaluating your property for design opportunities,
- Removing lawn without killing your soil,
- Building healthy living soil,
- Identifying issues with your irrigation system,
- Suggesting tips for reducing the water applied to your new garden.
June 11th – Water Wise Landscape Design Seminar 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon
This three-hour interactive workshop identifies the steps for successfully designing a water wise landscape – including;
- Understanding and contouring for rainwater
- Creating a shopping list of climate appropriate plants
- Placing plant symbols on a site plan using key design principals, including hydrozoning.
Bring a 1/4″ scale drawing of your property (a site plan) to this class for more specific ideas for YOUR sustainable landscape.

The registration fee is $20.00, whether you attend one or both of the classes.
