Lisa Bellora began her second career as a Landscape Designer ten years ago. She received her degree in Landscape Design and has designed many award winning landscapes since then. Prior to that, she was a Research Chemist for an Environmental Science department in a large agricultural company, followed by a stay at home Mommy. She has always loved the earth (plants, soils, etc), the quest for truth (research), and nature’s systems. Her love of gardening started with her immigrant grandparents and Master Composter father who taught her many of the organic gardening principles that she uses today! Lisa’s company Ornamental Gardens by Lisa helps clients create climate appropriate, sustainable, and beautiful landscapes that nurture living things.
Lisa’s love of landscaping brought her to G3 where she took classes and became a Watershed Wise Landscape Professional. In that capacity she has taught Watershed Wise Design courses for homeowners as well as Hands on Workshops for turf removal and water retention. She also is a G3 Garden Guru, providing personal landscape consultations to homeowners.
Lisa was president of the San Diego District of California APLD (Association of Professional Landscape Designers) for two years, and is serving her fourth year as a board member. She currently serves as the programs chair, setting up educational programs for the San Diego District. She is very active in the horticulture community, serving as board member of the San Diego Horticultural Society and providing landscape consultations for the San Diego Water Conservation Garden and Spring/Fall Home/Garden Shows in San Diego. She worked 2 years for a Landscape Contractor as an irrigation, planting, and maintenance specialist and continues to teach people about responsible irrigation and maintenance. Lisa serves on the Cuyamaca College Advisory Panel for the Ornamental Horticulture department and has participated in the judging of both the Spring Garden Masters at the San Diego Spring Home/Garden Show and the garden displays at the San Diego County Fair.
When she is not designing, teaching, or digging in the dirt, Lisa spends time with her family walking dogs, hiking, playing games, and enjoying music.
Lisa became a G3 Qualified Trainer in 2015 in San Diego, CA.
