West Basin WRF Ocean Friendly Garden Stands The Test of Time

CA Native Sycamores In ECLWRF OFG Courtyard

Yale PhD Candidate and Friend of G3, Sarah Randle, snapped these images of West Basin MWD’s Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility Ocean Friendly Demonstration Garden last weekend. Thanks, Sarah, for looking on the G3 website and using the previous shots as guides for updating our story!

This garden is three years old and still growing strong!  The sycamores in the entry courtyard are finally peeking over the enclosure and can be limbed-up for maximum walkability.

Once again, G3 shows that the summer native garden in Southern California doesn’t have to be a “dry bush and a rock.”  In the case of Ocean Friendly Gardens, the summer native garden can be lush green foliage and a rock. And, SMILE, this landscape only uses 20% of the water a grass lawn in the same space would use.
