Malibu Bluffs Park Readies For G3 Ocean Friendly Demonstration Garden

Malibu Bluffs Watershed Basics Class

Forty-eight residents of Malibu and other West Basin MWD’s service areas joined Surfrider Foundation’s National Coordinator and G3 Associate, Paul Herzog and G3’s Pamela Berstler at the Michael Landon Center at Malibu Bluffs Park in Malibu, CA for an Ocean Friendly Gardens Watershed Basics Class and walk-through of the proposed Malibu Bluffs Ocean Friendly Demonstration Garden designed by G3. A beautiful Malibu day greeted participants as they picked, smelled, and identified California native plant leaves to determine their dry-climate adaptations.

A brief tour of the demonstration garden site capped the event, and participants were able to look at the preliminary design plans. The Malibu Bluffs OFG Demonstration Garden is scheduled to complete design and begin construction in Winter 2012; the project will be installed with at least one Hands-on Workshop, allowing participants to experience building an OFG under the aegis of G3’s professional guidance.
